Named after the program’s sponsor and our former member, Dr. Hasso Freiherr von Falkenhausen († 2004), the von Falkenhausen Scholarship Program was called into being to assist engineering students at the University of Minnesota in finding internships in Germany. Established in 2003, the Steuben-Schurz-Gesellschaft e.V. administrates the program at the request of the donor.

The SSG finds and organizes internship placements, arranges housing, and assists the von Falkenhausen scholarship recipients before, during and after their internships. Participants are automatically part of our larger USA-Interns program and are invited to attend our orientation early in the summer. Participants receive a generous stipend, which includes a financial scholarship, language training and more.

Students from the University of Minnesota interested in applying should first speak with the program’s coordinator on campus, Ms. Susan Kubitschek of the International Programs Office of the Institute of Technology at the UMN. Applicants must apply thru Ms. Kubitschek.

When applying, please follow the application instructions for our regular USA-Interns program as seen here.
